Charnu Winery Team

Our team consists of the following key people (augmented by a number of others at our leased winery facility).

Mark Porembski - Winemaker

Mark Porembski

Mark Porembski has been the winemaker at Charnu Winery since its inception in 2004. Mark brings to Charnu a wide range of industry experience and proven success at making exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon.

Mark came to Napa to satisfy a nascent interest in wine. He became hooked after cutting his teeth at Trefethen and Far Niente, and has remained here ever since.

Like many Napa Valley winemakers, Mark is involved in several projects. In addition to his work at Charnu, Mark is:

  • Winemaker at Anomaly Vineyards
  • Partner with his wife Jennifer (winemaker at Spottswoode Estates) in Zeitgeist Cellars

Bob & Louise Dye - Proprietors

Charnu Winery Owners Bob and Louise Dye

Bob and Louise spent 35 years working in a variety of industries, all the while developing an increasing interest in wine. In 2001, they decided to take the plunge and move to St. Helena permanently.

At first, they were content to work around the periphery of the wine industry, but before long decided that they had to be full participants. After learning as much as they could about the business, they founded Charnu Winery in 2004.

In addition to working with Mark to decide on wine matters, they split up the day-to-day tasks of building the Charnu wine brand. Louise handles the everyday business, works with our customers and likes to show people around. Bob handles production, the vineyards and marketing.

In addition to their roles at Charnu, Bob and Louise are very active in Appellation St. Helena, the organization of wineries and winergrape growers in the St. Helena American Viticultural Area. Bob is the current President of Appellation St. Helena and Louise is on the Board of Directors.
